Hollyoaks bid farewell to Kieron Hobbs today, after he was murdered by John Paul’s secret brother Niall Rafferty.
In a bid to make it look like suicide after Kieron and John Paul’s relationship hit the rocks, Niall placed an overdose of something-or-other in Kieron’s lager as he sat and confessed his sins to the once holier-than-though Father Kieron.
It has long since been suspected and reported that Jake Hendricks, who plays Kieron, would be leaving the show in dramatic style. Sadly, it couldn’t have come at a worse time, with his and John Paul’s relationship beginning to grow strong not just in the show, but with the fans, too.
In my opinion, John Paul’s relationship with Kieron was, although rocky at first, fresher, cleaner and somewhat more believable than the relationship JP shared with Craig Dean.
John Paul disappointed me by jumping into bed with Craig – it doesn’t matter who you love and how many; cheating on the man you supposedly love is not acceptable.
Alas, I digress, and I’m supposed to be impartial anyway. So another dramatic death in Hollyoaks – all at the hands of Niall Rafferty. And it only gets worse (uh, I mean… better!) in the weeks to come with one of the McQueen sisters being killed off in an ‘explosive’ episode yet to come.
Watch this space! Oh, and the video below – it’s a fond farewell to Kieron Hobbs.
[Note: The availability of the video cannot be guaranteed. Should it fail, please be nice and report it in the comments section. Thanks!]

Apologies for the major gap in posts! We realise we’ve neglected the site a bit but we’re working hard to get that sorted!
Back to business. As Barbara quite rightly pointed out, James Sutton will make a brief return to the Oaks set this week, reprising his role as John Paul McQueen for what is said to be a major plot development involving the McQueen family.
A so-called Hollyoaks ‘insider’ told Digital Spy
We’re thrilled James decided to come back for the episodes. It’s like a McQueen family reunion on set but under very different circumstances – John Paul’s presence is simply the icing on the cake. The cast and crew are currently filming on location for a number of huge episodes and we’re sure that the storyline’s twists and consequences will definitely come as a shock to viewers.
Sutton announced he was leaving Hollyoaks in June after two years on the programme, revealing he was looking for new projects.
Having left in September, John Paul will return briefly in October.

It has been confirmed that James Sutton, who plays Hollyoaks gay student John Paul McQueen will be leaving in September.
After getting engaged to Kieron Hobbs, John Paul sees Craig for the first time since they parted ways and the feelings come rushing back, leaving JP with a difficult decision to make.
Digital Spy reports that Sutton will film his final scenes in July ready for his on-screen departure in September right in time for Craig Dean’s return.
Speaking about James Sutton’s decision to leave, producer Bryan Kirkwood said:
His sensitive and honest portrayal of a young man coming to terms with his sexuality and dealing with the aftermath has captivated viewers and critics, won many awards and has been at the heart of Hollyoaks‘ recent success. James will, I’m sure, go on to great things.
As above, James Sutton will leave Hollyoaks in September to start on new projects.
For more on this breaking news, head to JPMQ.org, as I’m sure they’ll have something to say about the situation.

Hollyoaks will be welcoming back Guy Burnett into the role of Craig Dean in September, it has been revealed.
According to reports, Guy Burnett has confirmed that he will start filming in July ready for his on-screen return for early September.
Burnett has also been linked to the new Late Night Hollyoaks, due to start broadcasting in November.
His return is set to cause a stir or two, especially within his family. Also affected by his return is, of course, John Paul McQueen played by James Sutton.
The pair had an affair earlier this year, despite the fact that Craig Dean had a girlfriend to whom he proposed shortly before leaving for uni in Dublin.
After the affair came out, John Paul and Craig decided to run away to Dublin with each other but at the last minute John Paul had last minute jitters and realised he deserved better than what Craig could offer him.
Craig departed, and the McDean fans were left craving a sunset ending.
Now Craig is coming back and he’s looking to re-start his previously doomed relationship with John Paul after John Paul’s relationship with Father Kieron is revealed to the Village and the pair part ways; with mystery surrounding Father Kieron’s exit…
On Guy Burnett’s return, Oaks producer Bryan Kirkwood said:
The Craig and John Paul story is one of the biggest and most successful that Hollyoaks has told, winning many awards and legions of fans. I’m delighted that Guy has agreed to come back and excited to see how viewers will react to what we have in store.
Will this allow for the sunset ending the McDean fans have been hoping for? Leave your views below…
Craig Dean will return to the Village in early September.

Hollyoaks will be broadcast at a ten o’clock slot on Channel 4’s digital sister E4 from November.
In addition to the usual 1830 showing, the show will broadcast another episode later on E4 with more emphasis on adult stories and a more risky attitude to existing stories.
The shows will be an hour long which, producers say, will allow better character and plot development. The late night showing will also see the brief return of Craig Dean (Guy Burnett) to save his sister from a deadly cliff fall. [unconfirmed report]
According to reports, the late night editions, with a working title of Late Night Hollyoaks, will also feature an extremely unlikely marriage, as well as the Dirty Diegos playing their first gig.
More information soon.

When he first appeared I always suspected it. Then other started to, as well.
Is Eli, Newt’s supposed best friend, really his imaginary friend?
Did he make Eli up completely or is he an old, perhaps dead, friend?!
UPDATE: Or maybe he’s just Newt’s alter-ego. Another half of Newt hidden, repressed over the years of abuse from his mother and in care homes. Maybe Eli is just Newt’s way of dealing with some of his personality traits.
Seems feasible, no?
In a recent interview, producer Bryan Kirkwood revealed this story will take a unique twist this summer.
Keep watching, with your eyes peeled!

Hollyoaks will be the first British prime-time soap to be broadcast in High Definition from the second of June.
The show began filming in HD earlier this year and the first airing will go out in June, meaning a higher quality picture even for those watching in standard definition.
Digital Spy reports that all the other soaps are either testing their HD output or are getting ready to test it; Hollyoaks will be the first to go to air.
