INTRODUCING: NEWT
We’ve known for a little while now that Frankie Osborne was going to foster another child to compensate for Craig leaving. Digital Spy revealed his identity today.
He takes the form of sexy new emo boy Barry Newton, or ‘Newt’ and he is going to stir things up with some of the multiple sides to his personality.
A character who seems angry and dark, Newt is actually very intelligent and one of the deepest sides of his personality is his sensitivity.
He’s been in foster care since he was three because his mother’s a heroin addict and his father is nowhere to be found. While being thrown between different foster families over the years does have its obvious implications on the life of a young man, Newt will show that it has given him the ability to psychoanalyse everybody he meets, for better or for worse.
When he arrives on 22nd October, he’s apparently going to “shake up the lives of two Hollyoaks favourites”. Hollyoaks exec producer Bryan Kirkwood said of his newest recruit
Newt’s a 15-year-old emo kid who will be someone who a growing number of our audience can identify with. He’s a little belter who after a couple of years in the background will hopefully prove to be a really big character.
So keep an eye out for Hollyoaks latest addition Barry “Newt” Newton, played by newcomer Nico Mirallegro.

I’ve Been Doing Acting Since I Was About 5, But That Was Only In School Productions But I Would Love Too, I Don’t Consider Acting As I Career(Although It Is) I Consider It As A Hobby Because I Love It Soo Much. Nico is a brilliant actor and I think he plays the part of Newt really well.
I’ve watched Nico in nearly every episode of Hollyoaks he is in and it has really gave me the determination to become something I really want to become, an actress.
I would love a part along side Nico in Hollyoaks but I don’t think it is possible is it?
Do you know if you are able to meet Nico, I have so many questions to ask him?

I think Newt is a wonderful character, and Nico plays him very well. When I first saw him out of make up, without the wig, I thought he looked like a child, to put it bluntly – it was Newt who looked 17 (Nico’s age) and Nico who looked 15 or younger. But more recently he seems to have slightly longer brown hair and is wearing it in a side parting. Maybe he is getting fed up with wearing the wig, and is finally growing his hair? I hope so, because as Newt he looks fabulous. It’s not just the hair, the eyeliner makes his eyes look gorgeous, like the eyes of a cat. He’s too young for me, but I like drawing him when he’s in character as Newt, because then his face becomes beautiful. If I met him in real life I would probably not recognise him, and walk straight past him.
As Newt, he’s inspired me to write a fan fiction on the forum of the official Hollyoaks website. Newt is an amazing character – Emo, schizophrenic, also he writes well and can draw cartoons. He behaves badly sometimes but has a very kind side too. One of the best characters in a soap, ever. Kudos to Nico, who brings him to live with so much magic.
