‘HOLLYOAKS’ EPISODE 2168: PAEDOPHILE?

It seemed in tonight’s episode that Hollyoaks is about to delve in to the deep and dark world of paedophilia. With a stark introduction to this potentially controversial storyline, tonight we saw OB’s new mate Simon the lifeguard / swimming teacher at the local pool leave a changing room cubicle with a crying boy, who looked no older than nine or ten.

What adds a different dimension to this entirely is Gilly; he witnessed what he thinks is the aftermath of an act of paedophilia in the changing room he was cleaning. His perception of the incident has lead us, the audience to believe what he does.

But is it true? Well so far the Oaks’ producers have managed to keep the storyline very quiet. After coming to such a conclusion, Gilly now faces the tough task of figuring out what he should do next? Should he tell Max? After all, Tom is one of Simon’s swimming students. Or should he shrug it off and decide it’s his imagination?

Elsewhere, Ste has payback in mind. After Warren made him pick up his chewing gum with his hands, Ste decided it’s time to show Warren that he can fight back, too. When an upset Louise left the party at The Loft, she sought solace in Evissa. Little did she know that she was about to be thrown into Ste’s plans for revenge against Warren, head first.

The writers, producers and director did an excellent job on this episode, building suspense and shocking those who didn’t know what was about to happen. Excellent dialogue from the whole cast and an über-performance from Kieron Richardson (AKA Ste Hay) who has consistently outperformed his dire on-screen girlfriend Amy Barnes since his induction in the Village, this episode was a much-needed Christmas pre-warmer for fans of Hollyoaks and soap alike.
